Researchers are comparing two surgical methods, slide tracheoplasty and tracheal resection anastomosis, to treat patients with acquired tracheal stenosis, a condition that narrows the airway and can cause breathing difficulties. The study aims to evaluate which procedure offers better clinical outcomes for patients with this condition, including those with subglottic stenosis. This randomized, single-blind trial is sponsored by Mansoura University Hospital. The study involves two groups: one receiving slide tracheoplasty and the other undergoing tracheal resection anastomosis. Both procedures are surgical techniques intended to manage tracheal stenosis. Patients will be randomly assigned to one of these two experimental treatment groups. The trial does not specify additional treatment details or dosing as these are procedural interventions. Participants will be monitored for up to six months, with the primary outcome being the success rate of the procedure assessed between three to six months after surgery. Secondary outcomes include complication rates, duration of hospital stay, and time to decannulation, all measured up to three months post-treatment. Duration - Up to 3 months
Participants undergo either slide tracheoplasty or tracheal resection anastomosis to manage tracheal stenosis followed by immediate post-operative care.
Hospital stay and follow-up visits during recovery period
Duration - 3 to 6 months
Participants are monitored for procedure success, complications, and recovery including time to decannulation after surgery.
Regular follow-up visits over 3 to 6 months after surgery
