This research aims to understand how smartphone addiction influences neck pain severity and the mechanical properties of neck muscles in healthy young adults aged 18 to 30. It compares two groups: those identified as smartphone addicted and those without addiction, using validated addiction scales and objective muscle assessments. The study focuses on the relationship between smartphone use, posture, and musculoskeletal health in this population. Participants undergo a one-time observational assessment including questionnaires such as the Smartphone Addiction Scale - Short Form (SAS-SF) and Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS) to determine addiction status. Muscle characteristics including tone, stiffness, and elasticity are measured with the MyotonPRO device, and pressure pain threshold is assessed using a handheld algometer. No treatments or interventions are given, as the study is purely observational. During the study visit, participants complete surveys about neck disability and smartphone addiction, followed by muscle and pain threshold measurements. Researchers will analyze these data to quantify mechanical muscle properties and neck disability related to smartphone use. The study's primary outcome is the quantitative assessment of muscle mechanics, with secondary outcomes including neck disability and addiction scale scores. Participation involves a single evaluation visit with no ongoing treatment or follow-up required.
