Predicting Response to Therapy From Analysis of Live Tumor Fragments of Surgical Resections

Researchers are studying live tumor fragments obtained from surgical resections in patients with cancer or tumors. The study aims to analyze how these tumor samples respond to treatments outside the body and to investigate the tumor microenvironment using advanced omics analysis and imaging techniques while keeping the cells stable in a live state. This observational study is sponsored by the Mayo Clinic and focuses on understanding treatment responses over a short period. Participants in this study will provide unused tumor tissue samples removed during planned cancer surgery. There is no treatment or intervention involved, as this is a lab-based correlative study. The tumor samples will be analyzed in controlled conditions for up to 72 hours to observe the tissue's response to various treatments and to assess the integrity of the tumor environment. During the study, participants will undergo their regular surgical procedures, and the collected tumor tissue will be used for research purposes. Researchers will monitor the tissue response to treatments using specialized imaging and omics methods. There are no additional treatments or procedures for participants, and the study focuses on laboratory analysis of the tumor samples after surgery. The total duration of tissue monitoring is up to 72 hours after collection.
