What this Trial Is About
Bereaved friends and family caregivers of cancer patients who have recently died often face intense grief and emotional challenges after the loss. This research evaluates a nature-based healing meditation (NBHM) intervention designed to support these caregivers during the first six months of bereavement. The study aims to assess how feasible and acceptable this low-tech meditation program is in helping caregivers cope with grief and improve their quality of life. The intervention consists of six nature-based healing meditation auditory modules delivered online through a study website. Caregivers will use these modules over a six-week period at their convenience. This single-group longitudinal study will include baseline assessment, post-intervention evaluation at six weeks, and a follow-up at twelve weeks. Researchers will explore how well caregivers engage with the content, their satisfaction with the program, and any challenges they experience. Participants will be assessed on various measures including attention function, prolonged grief symptoms, and quality of life parameters such as depression and anxiety. Tracking of feasibility and acceptability will occur throughout the 12-week study timeline. Semi-structured interviews with a diverse subset of caregivers will provide additional insights into the intervention's benefits and challenges. The total study duration for each participant is 12 weeks, with primary measurements taken from baseline to the study end.
