Researchers are studying blood pressure control in the community by analyzing 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring ABPM performed in local pharmacies across Italy. This large observational project aims to understand how well blood pressure is managed outside hospitals or clinics, using telehealth networks involving pharmacists to support hypertension screening and control under medical supervision. Pharmacies participating in the study offer 24-hour and home blood pressure monitoring services using telemonitoring and telereporting systems. These services follow Italian regulations and guidelines from hypertension societies. Patients receive the monitoring test prescribed by their general practitioner and pay for the service. Data from these tests are centralized and analyzed to assess blood pressure control among treated and untreated patients with suspected or confirmed hypertension. Participants will undergo blood pressure monitoring in pharmacies, with doctors managing the data collection and analysis. Researchers evaluate blood pressure control rates over 10 years, including office, daytime, and nighttime measurements, and compare treated versus untreated patients. They also study the occurrence of white-coat and masked hypertension, and blood pressure control in at-risk groups. The study involves patients of all ages and both sexes, with ongoing data collection through pharmacy networks.
