Researchers are studying vaccination hesitancy, delay, or avoidance in children with chronic diseases, congenital anomalies, or disabilities. This observational study aims to understand caregivers' attitudes, obstacles to timely vaccination, and the vaccination status of these children compared to their siblings and national vaccination records. The study focuses on an at-risk, marginalized population that may face additional challenges such as misconceptions about vaccine safety and vulnerability to infectious diseases. The study involves collecting data through comprehensive questionnaires that cover sociodemographic information, vaccination status, reasons for hesitancy or delay, and beliefs about vaccines. Additionally, focus groups including parents, caregivers, and persons with disabilities will provide qualitative insights. Researchers will compare findings between the study group of children with special needs and a control group consisting of their siblings. Participants will complete questionnaires anonymously after consenting to participate. The study involves analysis of quantitative data from questionnaires and qualitative data from focus group discussions. Researchers will measure vaccination rates and timing, comparing the study group to controls over a two-year period. The aim is to use the findings to develop tailored programs to improve vaccination confidence and adherence in this vulnerable population.
