Xiangya Cardiopulmonary Health and Disease Cohort Observational Study Using Retrospective and Prospective Data to Evaluate Heart and Lung Function

Researchers are conducting the Xiangya Cardiopulmonary Health and Disease Cohort, an observational study designed to systematically evaluate cardiopulmonary function in various health states. This study combines retrospective and prospective data to understand the relationship between heart and lung function across resting, exercise, and sleep scenarios. It aims to identify key indicators of cardiopulmonary health, develop a risk stratification system, and explore how comorbid heart and lung conditions affect long-term outcomes. The study integrates historical hospital records including cardiac and pulmonary function tests, clinical diagnoses, treatments, and imaging reports. Patients treated at Xiangya Hospital from 2010 to 2025 who meet criteria are included in the retrospective cohort. Those who consent will enter a prospective cohort with at least 3 years of follow-up and dynamic monitoring of cardiopulmonary function. The study will use data mining and clustering methods to classify patients by risk and analyze disease progression and comorbidity patterns. Participants provide cardiopulmonary assessments, questionnaires, and clinical data at baseline and during follow-up. The study will monitor death events for up to 10 years and measure secondary outcomes such as quality of life, hospitalization costs, and incidence of cardiometabolic and respiratory diseases over an average of 3 years. This comprehensive approach aims to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning for cardiopulmonary diseases through better understanding of heart-lung interactions.
