What this Trial Is About

This research aims to understand how activity levels relate to hospital stay length, quality of life, and hand grip strength in patients receiving a bone marrow transplant. It focuses on people undergoing this treatment to find connections that may help improve care and outcomes. The study is observational and gathers data over time as patients go through their transplant process. Participants will wear actigraphs, which are devices worn around the waist that track movement, starting three weeks before their transplant and continuing until hospital discharge. They will also complete quality of life questionnaires and perform hand grip strength tests at three separate times during their hospital stay. The study collects and compares activity data from the actigraphs with the questionnaire and grip test results. Throughout the study, researchers will monitor participants' activity continuously and assess their quality of life and hand strength multiple times during hospitalization. The data collected will help determine how activity levels impact recovery and length of hospital stay. The study follows participants for up to five years from when they start to understand long-term correlations and barriers to activity after transplantation.
