Long-Term Study of Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients Treated with Medication, Surgery, or Intervention at Asan Medical Center

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are collecting information on patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction who have received treatments such as medication, coronary artery bypass surgery, and percutaneous coronary intervention at Asan Medical Center in Korea. The study aims to understand the long-term outcomes of these treatments by analyzing medical records both retrospectively and prospectively. The study will gather data from 3,000 past cases and 2,000 new cases moving forward. These patients were treated with medical therapy, bypass surgery, or percutaneous coronary intervention as part of their care. No experimental treatments are being given as this is an observational study focusing on patient outcomes after these standard treatments. Participants will have their health events tracked for up to five years, focusing on occurrences such as death, heart attacks, repeat procedures, and strokes. Researchers will use coronary angiography data to confirm diagnoses and will monitor success rates of procedures within the first week after treatment. The main outcome assessed after one year will be a combination of death, non-fatal heart attacks, and repeat revascularization procedures.
