What this Trial Is About

The transition to motherhood, especially for first-time mothers, is a significant life phase that involves many psychological and social changes. This study focuses on how support from a partner influences parenting confidence and depression symptoms in new mothers during the early postpartum period. It aims to understand the protective role of partner support in maternal self-efficacy and postpartum depression. This observational study involves first-time mothers aged 18 years and older who are within the first 12 months after childbirth. Participants live with their spouse or partner and voluntarily join the study. The research collects data through questionnaires assessing parenting self-confidence, perceived spousal support, and postpartum depression levels at enrollment. Participants provide information once at the start of the study. They complete forms including the Karitane Parenting Confidence Scale, the Early Postpartum Perceived Spousal Support Scale, and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. Researchers use these measures to evaluate the relationship between partner support, parenting confidence, and depressive symptoms in new mothers. The study is sponsored by Istanbul University - Cerrahpasa and includes women who can read and write Turkish and have internet access.
