What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating how an augmented reality location-based game affects physical activity behaviors and psychological factors in middle-aged and older adults. The study targets community-dwelling individuals aged 40 and above who have sedentary work patterns exceeding 6 hours daily. This quasi-experimental research aims to understand if the game can motivate increased walking and improve quality of life among this population. Participants will be assigned to either an experimental group or a control group based on when they enroll. Those in the experimental group will play an augmented reality game called Pikmin Bloom, which sets new step count goals every two weeks to encourage more walking. The game is integrated with a LINE chatbot to provide feedback and support. The intervention lasts for 8 weeks, while the control group continues their usual routines without any changes. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires on physical activity, exercise self-efficacy, motivation, and quality of life. Blood pressure and body composition will also be measured. These assessments occur from the beginning of the study through roughly 12 weeks. Researchers will monitor daily step counts, goal achievements, and overall health to understand the impact of the game on participants' physical activity and well-being.
