What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating the effects of Body Awareness Therapy (BAT) on young adults aged 20 to 30 who have high stress levels. This study is a randomized controlled trial conducted at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Hatay Mustafa Kemal University. BAT is a holistic approach to human movement that considers physical, physiological, psychological, and existential aspects, aiming to evaluate its impact on functional capacity, balance, sleep quality, and psychological status in stressed individuals. Participants are randomly assigned to either a BAT group or a control group. The BAT group will engage in group exercises twice a week for 8 weeks, with sessions lasting 40 minutes and conducted by a trained therapist. Exercises include awareness movements performed in supine, sitting, standing, and walking positions, progressively increasing in intensity every two weeks. The control group will not receive any intervention during the study but will have the opportunity to receive BAT after the final assessments. Participants will undergo evaluations at the start and end of the 8-week period. Assessments include the 6-Minute Walk Test for functional capacity, Single Leg Stance and Y Balance Tests for balance, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 for psychological status, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index for sleep quality. The study team will also collect data on physical activity levels. All assessments and treatments are conducted in person, and adherence to the therapy sessions will be monitored to ensure consistent participation.
