What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the feasibility and effects of "Braining," a clinical program where psychiatric staff exercise together with patients to encourage regular physical activity. The study focuses on how staff perceive and implement Braining, and how it impacts their health and physical activity levels. It targets staff at four psychiatric units in Region Stockholm, Sweden, and seeks to understand correlations between participation and occupational health measures like stress, sleep, and engagement. Braining involves daily high-intensity group exercise sessions led by trained psychiatric staff alongside patients, combined with motivational and educational visits at the start and end of a 12-week period. Staff will be trained and supported over a 6-month implementation phase, with measurements taken before, during, and after the intervention. The study includes group training, motivational visits before sessions, and ongoing assessments to monitor compliance and integration into routine work. Participants will complete self-rating questionnaires on stress, sleep, general health, and job engagement monthly during the 6-month implementation and again 12 months after starting. Physical activity is tracked continuously during implementation and at follow-up. Implementation success is assessed through questionnaires, focus group interviews, and compliance checklists. Data analysis includes both qualitative and quantitative methods over multiple time points. Approximately 20 staff per unit will participate, with a total of four units involved.
