What this Trial Is About

This research aims to examine the biomechanical properties of the thoracolumbar fascia (TLF) and pain-related factors such as pain intensity, pressure pain threshold, and pain sensitivity in young adults with and without non-specific chronic low back pain (LBP). The study addresses the common problem of low back pain and considers the role of fascia, which has many pain receptors, in chronic pain conditions. A total of 50 participants will be included, divided into a group with chronic LBP and a healthy control group. Participants will undergo several assessments to measure pain and biomechanical properties. These include the Numerical Pain Scale (NMS) for subjective pain intensity, a Digital Algometer to assess pressure pain threshold, the Pain Sensitivity Scale (PSS), and the Myotonometer MyotonPRO device to evaluate TLF stiffness, elasticity, and tonus at specific spinal and rib levels. The two groups consist of adults aged 18 to 50 years, with the LBP group having pain lasting at least 3 months. During the study, pain severity, pain threshold of the fascia, and pain sensitivity will be assessed. Data will be analyzed using statistical software with significance set at p<0.05. The primary outcomes include changes in pain intensity measured by NMS, fascia stiffness, and pain sensitivity over one month. Participants will be monitored throughout the study period, which begins in July 2024 and ends in September 2024.
