What this Trial Is About

This research aims to assess how common lower limb peripheral artery disease PAD is among patients who have lumbar spinal stenosis LSS requiring surgery. PAD and LSS share similar symptoms, making it challenging to diagnose PAD accurately in this group. The study seeks to determine the prevalence of PAD in LSS patients and identify which routine diagnostic tests best detect PAD in this population, which may help explain lingering symptoms after surgery and improve patient care. Participants will undergo several examinations around the time of their LSS surgery, either a few weeks before or after. These include a contrast-enhanced CT scan of the lower limb arteries and various routine tests such as Doppler ultrasound, treadmill tests, pressure index measurements, and pulse palpation. An experimental visit will occur within three months after blood tests, where additional stress tests stress TcPO2 with different protocols and a CT scan of the aorta and lower limbs will be performed. A pseudonymized CT scan will be reviewed blindly by the study sponsor. During the study, participants will be closely monitored with a follow-up phone call 7 to 10 days after the CT scan to check for any adverse events. The primary outcome measured is the number of patients diagnosed with PAD by the contrast-enhanced CT scan within three months. Secondary outcomes include the effectiveness of various diagnostic tests in detecting PAD. The study concludes after these assessments, with no extended follow-up beyond the initial evaluation period.
