Researchers are conducting a retrospective observational study to examine patients admitted with ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS), either at admission or developed during hospital stay. The study focuses on two tertiary hospitals in Abu Dhabi, UAE, covering patient data from 2020 to 2024. The goal is to understand patient characteristics, treatment trends, hospitalization events, and outcomes for this serious cardiovascular condition in the region. The study collects data from electronic medical records of eligible patients treated at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) and Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC). It includes patients admitted with STEMI complicated by CS, looking at treatments provided and how patients responded during their hospital stay. This analysis spans a five-year period from January 2019 to March 2024. Participants' involvement includes reviewing their medical records to analyze disease profiles and treatment outcomes over five years. Researchers will assess the incidence of cardiogenic shock complicated acute myocardial infarction events and evaluate recovery or mortality factors. The study does not involve direct treatment or interventions but uses historical data to measure outcomes and trends related to STEMI and cardiogenic shock.
