What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying pigmentary glaucoma, a type of glaucoma characterized by pigment dispersion and damage to the optic nerve, to better understand its clinical features and to evaluate a surgical treatment called ab-interno 120 trabeculotomy. This study is a single-center, retrospective case series conducted at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. The aim is to analyze patients baseline characteristics and prior treatments, and assess the surgerys effects over six months after the operation. The study focuses on patients who have undergone ab-interno 120 trabeculotomy, a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery that creates a 120-degree incision in the trabecular meshwork to help lower eye pressure. Researchers will review data collected before and after surgery, including eye pressure measurements, medication use, and visual field and retinal nerve fiber layer stability. They will also monitor for any complications during or after the surgery to provide evidence for personalized treatment of pigmentary glaucoma. Participants involvement includes providing medical records and undergoing regular eye examinations and imaging before surgery and throughout a six-month follow-up period. Assessments include intraocular pressure, number of medications used, visual field tests, visual acuity, gonioscopy to view the surgical site, and iris configuration. The study will track the need for any additional glaucoma surgeries and collect comprehensive data to evaluate the surgerys safety and effectiveness over six months.
