What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating surgical strategies for colorectal resections and reconstructions in patients undergoing multivisceral resections for retroperitoneal sarcomas. The study aims to assess these surgical techniques, associated complications like anastomotic leakage, and their effects on patients' quality of life. This multicenter, non-interventional study focuses on improving decision-making and outcomes in this specific patient group. The study involves patients with primary retroperitoneal sarcomas who have undergone colon resection as part of multivisceral surgery at certified sarcoma centers. It will document colorectal resection and reconstruction methods, complications related to intestinal surgery, and their impact on quality of life using standardized questionnaires and interviews. Approximately 120 patients will participate, providing data on surgical practices and postoperative outcomes. Participants will be assessed immediately after surgery for resection and reconstruction procedures. Postoperative complications will be monitored up to 90 days after surgery, while quality of life and bowel function will be evaluated over about one year through questionnaires and interviews. The study will also identify patient, tumor, and treatment factors influencing these outcomes, aiming to tailor surgical strategies to patient needs and improve care.
