What this Trial Is About
This research aims to study how creatine supplementation affects exercise performance under simulated high-altitude conditions. Military personnel often face challenging environments like high altitudes that can limit their ability to perform physically. While creatine is known to boost exercise capacity at sea level, this study will explore its impact when oxygen levels are lower, simulating altitude conditions. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will receive creatine supplements totaling 40 grams over two days, taken as 5-gram doses four times daily. The other group will receive a placebo consisting of glucose in the same dosing schedule. The main test will measure changes in peak power during repeated sprints after supplementation. Throughout the study, participants will undergo exercise testing and monitoring to assess changes in power, fatigue, and body weight from baseline to three days later. The primary outcome is the change in peak power output. Secondary outcomes include relative peak power, mean power, relative mean power, fatigue index, and body weight changes. The study runs until June 2026 and welcomes healthy adults aged 18 to 40 who are regularly active.
