What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the Adhera Caring Digital Program for Obesity ACDP-O, a family-centered digital health intervention designed to support adolescents and young adults with overweight or obesity and chronic conditions such as type 1 diabetes T1D and asthma. This prospective single-arm feasibility study aims to assess the programs feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness in improving mental well-being, quality of life, and adherence to healthy lifestyle behaviors. The study includes a comparison cohort of participants with T1D and normal weight. The intervention is delivered through a mobile application over a 3-month period and includes personalized educational content, cognitive behavioral support, psychometric assessments, wearable device integration, remote monitoring, and explainable artificial intelligence tools. Participants engage with the program daily during this time, with caregivers actively involved. The study follows a pre-post design with baseline, post-intervention, and follow-up assessments. During the study, participants complete baseline assessments and provide self-reported health and anthropometric information. Caregivers of participants with T1D also share continuous glucose monitoring data. Researchers monitor engagement, mental and family well-being, quality of life, and disease-specific clinical measures such as glycemic control and hypoglycemia awareness. The total participation lasts approximately 3 months with remote monitoring and follow-up assessments to evaluate outcomes and usability of the digital program.
