Development and Dietitian Evaluation of the DietCoach Digital Dietary Counseling Platform for German-Speaking Dietitians in Switzerland

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating the needs for a digital dietary counseling system and evaluating how dietitians accept and use the DietCoach platform. This platform tracks patient food purchases automatically through loyalty cards and provides nutritional analysis. The study also explores how different amounts of available food purchase data affect dietitians acceptance and usability of the platform. Dietitians from German-speaking cantonal hospitals in Switzerland participate by being assigned to one of three groups based on the level of available patient food purchase data low, medium, or high coverage. In two separate sessions, participants use the DietCoach platform to provide at least one dietary recommendation based on patient data. Afterward, they give feedback on the platforms acceptance and usability. Participants are involved in workshops, surveys, and hands-on sessions using the DietCoach platform. They analyze patient food purchase data covering 8 weeks in each session to make dietary recommendations. Researchers measure key system requirements as well as the platforms acceptance and usability immediately after the intervention. The study aims to understand dietitians experiences and improve digital dietary counseling tools.
