What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating a digital program designed to support adults with eating disorders in their daily lives. This study involves 170 adults who will provide regular reports on their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The study aims to understand risk patterns for eating disorder behaviors, test which therapy skills work best, and assess how usable and acceptable the program is for participants. Participants will use a smartphone-based program that collects brief surveys and sensor data to detect when they may be at higher risk for behaviors such as restricting food, binge eating, or unhealthy weight control. They will watch four video modules introducing core cognitive-behavioral therapy skills, then receive just-in-time adaptive interventions JITAIs through the app. These interventions deliver tailored suggestions based on real-time data, with the type of therapy skill randomly assigned at the moment of delivery. Throughout the study, participants will complete ecological momentary assessments and sensor data collection over approximately 16 weeks. Researchers will measure outcomes including risk prediction accuracy, frequency of eating disorder behaviors, usability and acceptability of the program, and psychological factors related to therapy skills. The study will also track enrollment and attrition rates, with assessments occurring at regular intervals during and after the intervention period.
