Researchers are studying a hybrid home-based cardiac rehabilitation program called eCardiacRehab for patients with coronary artery disease CAD treated with percutaneous coronary intervention PCI. This trial aims to improve access to rehabilitation by addressing patient and system challenges, especially for older adults, women, and those with other health or mental challenges. The study compares the hybrid program to usual care to see if it reduces cardiovascular death, emergency department visits, and improves quality of life. Participants are randomly assigned to either usual care or the eCardiacRehab program, which is a 12-week digital cardiac rehabilitation intervention. The trial is designed to evaluate the programs impact on clinical outcomes, medication adherence, cardiovascular risk factors, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness. Various patient-reported outcomes and clinical measures will be collected, including physical activity, body composition, and biomarkers. During the study, participants will be monitored through self-reported data, clinical exams, and sample collections, with data linked to national registries to track cardiovascular events and mortality for up to 10 years. Outcomes include quality of life assessments at multiple time points and medication adherence monitoring. The study also evaluates long-term effects on health status, healthcare use, and cost utility. Participants involvement spans baseline assessments, the 12-week intervention, and extensive follow-up periods.
