Age: 18Years - 60Years

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Adult over 18 years old
  • Orally intubated patients for the first time connected to mechanical ventilation for less than two weeks
  • Glasgow coma scale score between 13 and 15
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Patients with high risk for laryngeal edema
  • Patients with difficult intubation
  • Endotracheal tube or anterior-posterior diameter 45% or more
  • History of self-extubation
  • Patients planned for tracheostomy
