Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age between 18 and 70 years
  • Body mass index (BMI) greater than 24 kg/m2
  • Patients undergoing bariatric surgery at Beijing Friendship Hospital
  • History of hypertension treated with two or more antihypertensive drugs for more than 4 weeks
  • Able to provide written consent without major barriers
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Secondary hypertension except due to sleep apnea
  • Cardiovascular disease such as myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke, or coronary revascularization within 6 months
  • Severe other diseases including autoimmune disease, cancer, advanced liver disease, respiratory or digestive diseases
  • Unable to understand or follow study procedures
