What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effect of breathing exercises on fatigue and perceived stress in intensive care nurses through a randomized controlled trial. The study tests whether nurses practicing breathing exercises experience lower levels of stress and fatigue compared to those who do not. Nurses working in intensive care for at least six months and willing to participate are included in the study, which aims to better understand how these exercises might impact their well-being. Nurses are randomly assigned to either an intervention group or a control group. The intervention group receives breathing exercise training using the triple breathing technique (full yogic breathing) and 4-7-8 breathing technique. Initially, they learn the exercises face-to-face and practice three days a week with in-person sessions; on other days, they follow daily audio recordings sent via WhatsApp. This exercise routine continues for 30 days. The control group does not receive any breathing exercise intervention during the study but will be introduced to the techniques after the study ends. Participants complete data collection forms before starting, at day 15, and at day 30 using the Piper Fatigue Scale and Perceived Stress Scale to measure fatigue and stress levels. These assessments help track changes over time. The study monitors adherence to the breathing exercises through scheduled face-to-face sessions and audio guidance. The total study duration for each nurse is 30 days, with interim and final follow-ups to evaluate the outcomes.
