What this Trial Is About
Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and early death worldwide. Its prevalence is increasing, especially in developing countries like China, where it affects a significant portion of the adult population. This trial evaluates the effectiveness of health behavior interventions based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED model to support patients with hypertension in managing their condition and improving health behaviors. The study compares two groups: an intervention group receiving a structured program based on the PROCEED model's three core elements—predisposing, enabling, and reinforcing factors—to influence health behaviors, and a control group receiving standard community health education on hypertension. The intervention is delivered by a healthcare team including researchers, cardiologists, family doctors, community healthcare workers, psychologists, and health education specialists. Participants will be followed over nine months with assessments at baseline, three, six, and nine months. Measurements include health behaviors, systolic blood pressure, delay discounting, hypertension knowledge, reinforcing and enabling factors, and self-efficacy. The study uses randomized allocation with single masking and involves regular evaluations to monitor progress and outcomes throughout the study period.
