What this Trial Is About

Fear of childbirth in women pregnant for the first time can negatively impact the bond between mother and baby and affect the mother's mental health. This research evaluates two non-drug methods, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Virtual Reality (VR), to reduce childbirth fear, anxiety, and improve mental well-being and attachment in first-time pregnant women. The study aims to offer new insights for clinical practice and antenatal education. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three groups: one receiving weekly EFT sessions for four weeks, another receiving both EFT and VR sessions weekly for four weeks, and a control group receiving standard antenatal care without these interventions. Each group's fear and mental well-being are assessed before and after the intervention period. Women will attend weekly sessions and complete assessments between 32 and 38 weeks of pregnancy. Researchers will use questionnaires and scales to measure fear of childbirth, mental well-being, mother-infant attachment, and subjective experience of fear. Demographic data will also be collected to understand participant backgrounds. The study is sponsored by Inonu University and follows participants until the end of pregnancy.
