European Study on Prevention of Heart Disease, Diabetes, and Kidney Disease Observing Treatment and Lifestyle in Coronary Patients and High-Risk Individuals

This research aims to provide a comprehensive European overview of preventive care practices by cardiologists, specialists, and primary care physicians for patients with coronary heart disease CHD, individuals at high risk of cardiovascular disease, and those with conditions like hypertension, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. It evaluates whether current European guidelines on cardiovascular disease prevention and management of related conditions are being followed. This is the sixth survey in a series conducted by the European Society of Cardiology to assess clinical practice across multiple countries. The study is observational and includes two main groups patients who have experienced coronary heart disease events and individuals at high risk of cardiovascular disease in primary care. It will investigate management through lifestyle and drug therapies, focusing on hospital patients with CHD and apparently healthy high-risk individuals in primary care. The survey will be conducted from 2023 to 2025, continuing the ongoing effort to track cardiometabolic and renal health in Europe. Participants will be followed over a 30-month period to measure how many meet European targets for lifestyle, risk factors, and therapeutic goals for cardiovascular disease prevention. The study involves collecting data on clinical management and patient health status without administering treatments. Researchers will assess adherence to guidelines and risk management practices, helping to identify areas for improvement in preventing cardiovascular disease. The total participation time per individual varies based on the timing of their index event and follow-up assessments.
