Evaluation of Access to Screening for Post-partum Depression Via the Postnatal Interview Within 8 Weeks of Birth in Women Who Have Given Birth at the Troyes Hospital (DEPRESSIONPP)

What this Trial Is About

Post-partum depression is a depressive disorder occurring within the first year after childbirth, affecting about 16.7% of women in France according to recent surveys. This condition can lead to serious complications for both mother and child, including risks to the mother-child bond and maternal suicide, which is a leading cause of maternal death in France. Despite its seriousness, many affected women do not seek medical help due to fear of stigma and misunderstanding of the condition. This observational, retrospective study aims to evaluate factors related to access to compulsory early postnatal interviews introduced in July 2022, which are designed to screen for post-partum depression. The study focuses on women who gave birth at the Centre Hospitalier de Troyes between July 2022 and October 2023. The main factor being evaluated is whether women were referred by a healthcare professional during this early interview, with additional assessment of economic, geographical, and other associated factors. Participants will be sent information and questionnaires to complete and return by mail. Researchers will measure whether participants were referred by a healthcare professional during the early postnatal interview, as well as socioeconomic status, obstacles to care, and knowledge about post-partum depression and the early interview. The study duration for outcome measurement is approximately three months. Participation involves completing questionnaires and sharing information on postnatal care experiences.
