What this Trial Is About
Researchers are exploring the use of dental-dedicated MRI (ddMRI) compared to existing standard clinical dental images such as bitewings, periapical, panoramic, cone-beam CT, medical CT, and medical MRIs of the temporomandibular joints. This observational study aims to assess the feasibility, safety, and diagnostic quality of ddMRI in dental patients, as well as its ability to identify anatomical landmarks and detect inflammation. Expertise in ddMRI research guides the study design and data interpretation. Participants are dental patients receiving routine care that includes imaging. They will be invited to complete an MRI safety screening questionnaire and attend at least one study visit for an MRI scan using ddMRI technology. After the scan, participants will fill out a brief questionnaire about their experience. The study focuses on dental conditions such as dental crowding, traumatic dental occlusion, dental pain, temporomandibular disorders, orthodontics, and endodontic disease. During the study, researchers will monitor the feasibility and safety of ddMRI over one year and assess the diagnostic quality within the same period. Anatomical landmark identification and inflammation detection will be evaluated over three years. Participants will be involved in MRI scans, questionnaires, and routine dental imaging. The study is observational with no experimental treatment, and participants may take part for varying lengths based on the assessment timelines.
