Researchers are evaluating a culturally adapted "Faith in Action!" curriculum designed to train lay health navigators to support breast cancer screening among Korean American women in faith-based settings in Los Angeles. This study aims to see if this program can improve adherence to breast cancer screening guidelines within this community. The study uses a cluster randomized trial design involving Korean churches and focuses on underserved Korean American women aged 45 to 80 years. The intervention involves a train-the-trainer approach where lay health navigators are educated and certified to provide cancer education and navigation services within selected Korean churches. These trained navigators use tools and resources to encourage breast cancer screening through one-on-one education, small media, and workshops. The study compares this approach to a control group that receives a presentation on healthy lifestyle habits along with breast cancer screening guidelines. Participants will be involved in their churches where trained navigators deliver the program. Researchers will assess screening adherence up to six months after the program ends, along with participants' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about breast cancer screening. Data collection includes qualitative interviews and surveys measuring changes in screening knowledge and perceptions. The total study duration spans from July 2022 to December 2025, with safety monitoring and follow-up conducted throughout.
