What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating a program called Families Moving Together to learn how to encourage physical activity among families with preschool-aged children. This study focuses on families with children aged 3 to 5 years and aims to understand strategies that promote active lifestyles together. The study is behavioral and does not involve medication or devices. The program involves six weekly in-person sessions lasting about one hour each. During each session, families will participate in a welcome, warm-up, discussion, interactive educational activities, and family movement games. Topics include physical activity guidelines, benefits, barriers, strategies to increase activity, building support systems, goal setting, and maintaining changes. Families will also be encouraged to take part in home-based activity challenges and receive extra educational materials. Participants will complete surveys before and after the six-week program, brief evaluations after each session, and a group interview after the final session. Researchers will measure how feasible the program is and track changes in physical activity participation, family health climate, parental social support, and parent confidence in promoting activity. The study will monitor these outcomes before and immediately after the intervention.
