Feasibility Study of Using a Web-Based Platform for Cognitive and Speech Rehabilitation in Adults with Neurological Disorders

Researchers are exploring the use of a web-based platform called Cognishine to deliver rehabilitation treatment for cognitive and language impairments in adults with acquired neurological disorders, such as those admitted to critical care and stroke units. The study aims to determine if this digital approach is feasible within a large acute healthcare organization, replacing traditional paper-based therapy with online sessions. Participants will receive standard rehabilitation care alongside therapy sessions prescribed through the Cognishine platform, which supports various activities targeting speech, language, social-emotional skills, and cognition. Therapy will be delivered digitally instead of on paper, with the goal of assessing how well patients and therapists adapt to and use the platform during their recovery. During the study, participants therapy completion rates will be tracked from recruitment until discharge from therapy or hospital, with expected monitoring over 1 to 6 months and up to 12 months maximum. Researchers will also gather feedback from patients and staff on their experiences using Cognishine, and collect data on rehabilitation progress. This will help identify any barriers to implementation and provide insights to improve the user experience for future use.
