This observational study focuses on runners who have functional equinus, a condition affecting foot and ankle movement. Researchers are examining the use of Nimbus shoes designed specifically for daily training, which feature an 8mm drop and are intended for individuals with heavier than normal weight. The shoes have a structured design for enhanced lateral stability and are a variant of the Novablast shoe, offering a mixed profile suitable for both training and competition. Participants will use the Nimbus shoe, notable for its lightweight design and specific structural features such as a highly structured buttress and internal heat-sealed midfoot. The shoe weighs 300 grams and provides a higher midfoot compression range with less lateral containment. This study does not involve treatment arms but observes the natural use and effects of this footwear among regular runners with functional equinus. During the 5-week observation period, participants will be assessed for changes related to functional equinus, which is the primary outcome measure. Secondary outcomes include pain sensitivity measured by algometry. Participants will be monitored for their running activity and shoe usage, with data collected to understand the footwear's impact on their condition. The study spans from March 2025 to December 2025, with evaluations occurring at the 5-week mark.
