What this Trial Is About

The aim of this study is to explore the genetic information associated with the development of TAA and aAD in individuals without history or syndromic features (Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Turner syndrome etc.) for aortic disease. For this purpose, whole genome sequencing will be performed in patients with documented aortic aneurysm or/and aortic dissection.

You may qualify if you...

  • Adults over 18 years who had surgery for acute aortic dissection or thoracic aortic aneurysm at University Hospital Basel from 2015 onward
  • Patients scheduled for surgery for acute aortic dissection or thoracic aortic aneurysm at University Hospital Basel starting in 2024
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Inability or unwillingness to provide informed consent
  • Diagnosed heritable vascular disorders such as Marfan syndrome, Turner syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
