What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the effects of different dietary patterns on adults with rheumatoid arthritis. This study compares a gluten-free diet, a Mediterranean diet, and a control diet to see how they influence disease activity, quality of life, and dietary inflammatory index over a 12-week period. The goal is to understand how these diets may impact the progression of rheumatoid arthritis and patient well-being. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups a gluten-free diet group that eliminates all gluten-containing foods, a Mediterranean diet group emphasizing fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, olive oil, and fish, and a control group that continues their usual diet without specific modifications. Each group will follow their assigned diet for 12 weeks, with guidance provided to help maintain adherence. During the study, participants will have regular follow-ups where clinical measures like the DAS28 score for disease activity and the SF-12 questionnaire for quality of life will be collected. Dietary intake data will also be used to calculate the dietary inflammatory index. Researchers will analyze these clinical and nutritional outcomes to assess the diets effects on rheumatoid arthritis. The total participation duration is 12 weeks.
