Evaluating Egg Voucher Program for Mothers of Young Children Aged 6 to 24 Months in Rural Intibuc, Honduras

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to evaluate a program providing 30-day egg vouchers to mothers of children aged 6 to 24 months living in rural areas of Intibuce1, Honduras. The study focuses on improving child nutrition and growth by assessing the effects of adding egg vouchers to the standard care these children receive. It is a prospective community-cluster non-randomized trial sponsored by Georgia Southern University. Participants are divided into two groups one receives monthly 30-day egg vouchers along with the standard care, while the other continues with standard care only. The study measures outcomes at 6 and 12 months to track growth and nutritional changes. The intervention group receives the egg vouchers throughout the study period. During the study, researchers will monitor changes in lengthheight-for-age z-scores at 6 and 12 months as the primary outcomes. Secondary measures include rates of stunting, underweight status, rapid weight gain, diarrhea, respiratory symptoms and infections, food insecurity, and dietary diversity over the same periods. Participants will be followed for up to 12 months to assess these health and nutrition outcomes.
