Researchers are evaluating the impact of iLook Out for Child Abuse, an online interactive learning module designed to train early childhood professionals about reporting suspected child abuse. This study focuses on improving knowledge, attitudes, and preparedness of childcare providers regarding mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect. It aims to understand current knowledge of Pennsylvania law and the factors influencing reporting behaviors among early childhood providers. The intervention consists of the iLook Out for Child Abuse module, which is a self-paced, multi-media, interactive online program. Phase 1 was a randomized control trial using a test-retest model to assess changes in knowledge, attitudes, and preparedness. Phase 2 is an open-enrollment study available free of charge for childcare providers, collecting pre- and post-intervention data on the same measurements. Participants will engage with the online module and complete assessments measuring knowledge and attitudes before and after the program. The primary outcome is the change in knowledge regarding reporting suspected child abuse over 48 months, with secondary outcomes including changes in attitudes. The study is conducted without masking and follows participants for up to 48 months to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational intervention.
