What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate whether joint consultations by both a pulmonologist and an ENT specialist improve care for patients who have both asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis CRSwNP. These conditions affect different parts of the respiratory tract but share common features and often occur together. The study seeks to find out if combined consultations can reduce the need for oral corticosteroids over the year following the initial visit by enabling more personalized treatment plans. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups one group receives a joint consultation with both specialists at the baseline visit, while the other group undergoes separate consultations with each specialist, which reflects current standard care. The study includes mucus sampling and nasal brushing procedures at baseline and again at one year to gather additional data. Throughout the study, participants will be monitored for changes in their use of oral corticosteroids, frequency of asthma flare-ups and ENT-related events, control of asthma and CRSwNP symptoms using standardized questionnaires, nasal polyp size, quality of life, and healthcare resource use. These assessments occur at baseline and at 12 months. The study runs until November 2029, with participants followed for a full year after their initial consultation to measure these outcomes.
