What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating an interactive virtual occupational safety training program designed specifically for home healthcare workers. This pilot study aims to collect preliminary data on how well the knowledge gained from the enhanced Home Healthcare Virtual Simulation Training System (HH-VSTS) transfers to real-world home environments. The study uses a quasi-experimental design to assess learning transfer and hazard response among participants. Participants will complete one of three training modules within the HH-VSTS software program. After this, they will perform a walk-through of a simulated home setting, which is a furnished apartment used for occupational and physical therapy student training. During the walk-through, participants will identify any hazards they recognize, allowing researchers to evaluate their learning and hazard response abilities. Throughout the study, participant involvement includes completing the virtual training and the live simulated home walk-through. Researchers will measure learning transfer by assessing hazard identification immediately after training exposure. They will also evaluate hazard response as a secondary outcome. The study is expected to run until June 30, 2025, and includes ongoing monitoring of participant performance during the assessments.
