This observational study focuses on emergency medicine by using electronic health records to build an International Big Data Centre within the Institute of Sciences in Emergency Medicine at Guangdong Provincial Peoples Hospital. The study aims to better understand the relationship between how long patients stay in the emergency department EDLOS, their risk of death, and adverse events during or after their stay. It also looks to identify risk factors linked to high mortality and adverse events among patients with prolonged ED stays and to develop predictive models for acute diseases. The study includes all patients who visited the emergency department between 2011 and 2022. It uses existing health records to examine outcomes without administering treatments or interventions. The main focus is on measuring in-hospital mortality from the time of ED triage until discharge or death, up to one month. Secondary measures include the number of adverse events occurring within the same timeframe. Participants data will be collected and analyzed to assess outcomes related to their ED stay. Researchers will evaluate mortality and adverse events based on the electronic health records. This data-driven approach helps identify patterns and risk factors associated with prolonged emergency visits. The study continues until December 2027, with no active treatment or follow-up visits required from participants.
