Study on Patient and Physician Experiences and Management Approaches in Takayasu Arteritis

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating the experiences of patients with Takayasu arteritis TAK and how doctors manage this condition. The study focuses on understanding patient perspectives on their disease and treatment, as well as physician views on diagnosis and management. The research involves collecting information through questionnaires to capture these insights from both groups. Patients diagnosed with TAK will be invited to complete an anonymous online questionnaire lasting about 25 minutes, featuring multiple-choice and short-answer questions about their symptoms, treatments, and care concerns. Physicians involved in managing TAK will also fill out a separate online questionnaire of approximately 15 minutes, exploring their approaches to diagnosis, treatment choices, and challenges faced. Participants will engage by completing their respective online surveys, which do not involve any medical procedures or interventions. The studys main outcomes are the perspectives gathered from patients and physicians on the first day of participation. This observational study is conducted by the University of Edinburgh and is designed to provide insights into TAK care without requiring in-person visits or long-term follow-up.
