What this Trial Is About
Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a genetic condition marked by enlargement and dysfunction of the right ventricle and serious irregular heartbeats. Researchers are exploring the role of inflammation in ARVC progression, noting inflammation signs in imaging and tissue studies. This study aims to determine if local inflammation can be detected inside the heart in patients with ARVC to better understand the disease mechanisms. The study involves two groups: patients diagnosed with ARVC undergoing right ventricle electrophysiologic mapping, and control subjects without heart disease undergoing ablation procedures for other conditions. Researchers will collect local heart tissue and blood samples using special catheters during these procedures to analyze inflammatory markers. These samples will be studied for various inflammatory components over a 24-month period. Participants will undergo electrophysiological exams during which blood and intracardiac samples will be collected. Researchers will measure inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein, interleukins, tumor necrosis factor, and transforming growth factor. The study will monitor these markers to understand local inflammation in ARVC. Participation includes monitoring for two years with no masking or randomization, and involves careful laboratory assessments and comparisons between groups.
