What this Trial Is About

This research focuses on patients who have undergone allogeneic (donor) stem cell transplantation at the NIH Clinical Center. It aims to monitor these patients for their response to treatment, possible disease relapse, and any long-term effects related to the transplant. The study includes patients aged 7 to 80 who had their first transplant at least three years before joining and were treated under NHLBI protocols. It addresses the ongoing risks patients face, such as late recurrence of disease, transplant-related immune problems, and long-term complications from chemotherapy or radiation used during transplant preparation. Participants receive regular follow-up care without investigational treatments. They are generally seen annually at the clinic, where they may undergo physical and eye exams, blood and urine tests, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, tissue biopsies, and various imaging tests like nuclear scans, MRI, CT, and PET scans. Lung and heart function tests are also performed as needed. Disease relapse or transplant-related issues may be treated with standard medical, radiation, or surgical therapies, or experimental therapies may be offered. Throughout the study, participants are evaluated with clinical exams, laboratory tests, imaging, and biopsies to track their health status and transplant outcomes. Researchers collect data to better understand long-term effects and improve patient management. The study provides access to specialized hematologists to assist with managing transplant complications. Follow-up visits typically occur once a year, and the study helps ensure consistent care and data collection over time.
