What this Trial Is About
This research aims to compare the effects of two manual therapy techniques, Positional Release Technique PRT and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization IASTM, on cervical muscle endurance and functional performance in adults with nonspecific neck pain. This condition is common among office workers and students due to poor posture and prolonged sitting, leading to reduced muscle endurance, pain, and decreased quality of life. The study seeks to determine which therapy, combined with exercise, better supports early intervention to prevent chronic disability. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups one receiving PRT plus a home exercise program, another receiving IASTM plus the same exercise program, and a control group performing only home exercises. Treatments consist of 12 sessions over 4 weeks, with three sessions per week lasting 45-60 minutes. PRT involves positioning muscles in a relaxed state to reduce tension, while IASTM uses specialized instruments to mobilize soft tissues. The home exercises include stretching, chin tuck endurance, and scapular stabilization, guided by video and reminders. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires and clinical tests at the start and after 4 weeks to assess neck disability, pain levels, muscle endurance, quality of life, and work performance. The Neck Disability Index NDI is the primary outcome measure. Researchers will monitor progress with standardized tests including the Neck Flexor Endurance Test and Visual Analog Scale for pain. The study uses randomization and single-blind procedures to ensure unbiased results and aims to provide evidence for effective early physiotherapy strategies for neck pain.
