Mixed Methods Study on Navigating Pregnancy and Parenthood With Lyme Disease

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to understand the experiences of pregnancy and parenting among gestational parents with Lyme disease, including those diagnosed with post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome PTLDS and chronic Lyme disease CL. It focuses on individuals diagnosed either during pregnancy or prior to pregnancy who continue to experience symptoms. The study explores unique challenges these patients may face related to pregnancy, medical care, and their childs development. Participants will complete online quantitative surveys covering demographic information, medical and pregnancy history, mental health, and their childs development. Following the surveys, they will take part in an in-depth qualitative interview about their experiences with pregnancy and parenting while managing Lyme disease or related conditions. During the study, participants provide data through questionnaires and interviews conducted in English. Researchers will analyze these responses to gain insights into the lived experiences, mental health status, parenting stress, and well-being of gestational parents with Lyme disease. The main outcome measured is understanding these experiences, with additional assessments including depression, anxiety, parenting stress, general health, disability, trauma symptoms, and positive well-being.
