What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating an occupational therapy program designed for adults who have experienced intimate partner violence and are receiving services at a domestic violence shelter. The study aims to understand how effective this program is in improving participants' healthy lifestyles, quality of life, and coping skills over about six weeks. Participants will attend eight occupational therapy sessions held twice a week for four weeks. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and covers topics such as sleep hygiene, physical activity, healthy cooking, self-management, coping skills, self-esteem, mindfulness, and goal setting. The sessions are led by an occupational therapist and a graduate student, and participants will receive a personal journal for homework reflections. Throughout the study, participants will complete pretests including lifestyle assessments and coping scales before the program starts, and posttests after completing the sessions. At each session, they will fill out a lifestyle medicine checklist. Researchers will monitor changes in healthy lifestyle habits, quality of life, and coping skills from before the program to after its completion, which is up to nine weeks from enrollment.
