What this Trial Is About
This research involves adult women who have experienced domestic violence and are seeking help for this reason. It aims to explore the connection between how victims view themselves (self-dehumanization) and their hesitation to report their abusive partner. The study is observational and sponsored by Centre Hospitalier Henri Laborit, focusing on understanding these psychological and behavioral factors over one year. Participants will first take part in a 30-minute interview with a doctor or nurse to collect socio-demographic information and details of the violence they have experienced. During this time, they will complete the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). Immediately following this, participants will complete four self-questionnaires on a computer, assessing childhood trauma, feelings of dehumanization in relationships, self-esteem, and experiences of violence, along with an implicit association test (IAT). This second part lasts 30 minutes. Each participant's total involvement lasts about one hour. Researchers will evaluate the relationship between personal self-dehumanization and the reluctance to report abuse. The study includes interviews, standardized questionnaires, and psychological testing. There is no ongoing treatment, and participation ends after the assessments are completed.
