What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating the short- and long-term effects of exposure to maternal polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) on the health of children born to affected mothers in Guangzhou, China. This observational study explores how conditions like hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance in mothers might influence the offspring's metabolism, endocrine system, and overall health from birth through childhood and adolescence. The study collects detailed data on maternal PCOS subtypes, breastfeeding, diet, and education while monitoring various health outcomes in offspring. Biological samples such as blood and tissue are also gathered. Key health measures include growth parameters, metabolic profiles, neurodevelopment, and reproductive endocrine function assessed at multiple ages from birth to 18 years. Participants will be followed regularly with assessments including laboratory tests for glucolipid metabolism disorders, epigenetic profiling at birth, and intelligence testing at age 6. Weight, height, body fat percentage, intestinal flora, and neurodevelopmental status are tracked at specific intervals up to 18 years old. This long-term study aims to understand how prenatal PCOS exposure impacts health over time.
